+ Gee ehk GY3 ehk Suburban Suspekt on üks Eesti eksperimentaalse tantsumuusika projekti Def Räädu taga olevatest produtsentidest, kuid ta on samuti teatud sooloartisti ja DJ’na, kelle stiil koosneb tummistest rütmidest ja sügavast bassist, segatuna kerge abistava jazzipuutega. Lisaks on ta tegelane Lejal Genes (loodud 1996) ja Lejal Globe (loodud 2007) plaadimärkide taga, mis on mõlemad suunatud moodsa tantsumuusika väljastamisele. Samuti juhib ta iganädalast Lejal’Nyte raadiosaadet legendaarses bassimuusika jaamas Sub FM.

“Linnas” on esimene sooloalbum Gee artistinime all. See koosneb 11 rajast, mis kõik on pruulitud viimase paari aasta jooksul erinevates linnakeskkondades. “Linnas” on nendes keskkondades tajutud suhtumiste, tundmuste ja kogemuste peegeldus, mis on kokku pandud Gee maamajas, kaugel eemal linnapiirkondadest.

Kalvik on tech-house produtsent, kes alustas muusika tegemist 1998. aastal. Paljudes tema lugudes on mõjusid Chicago house’ist. Oma senise karjääri jooksul on Kalvik väljastanud mitu täispikka plaati, teinud hulga remikse ning ka muusikat teistele (sh Móre, Tommyboy, Lord (Öökülm), Rassakas jne).

Udu on ilmastikunähtus ja Nigeeria rahvuspill. Udu sai muusikanakkuse varakult, 14-aastaselt soetas esimese plaadimängija ja hakkas koguma vinüülplaate. Stiililiselt ei ole tekkinud otsesid piire – tema setis võib olla muusikat laohoonereivist kuni Kariibi saarte muusikani. Kõige südamelähedasem on aafrika ja ladina rütmidega vürtsitatud Ühendkuningriikide bassimuusika. Udu settides kõlavad tihedad trummirütmid, veerev bassiliin ja tükeldatud vokaalisämplid.

Pileti asemel on hoopis hea tuju. Seega tulge kõik tasuta Eesti meeste tegemisi kuulama.

Gee aka GY3 aka Suburban Suspekt is one of the producers’ behind Estonian experimental dance music project Def Räädu, but he’s also known as a solo artist and a DJ, who’s style consists of tight beats and deep bass with a touch of jazz to help things along. In addition he’s the main force behind Lejal Genes (est. 1996) and Lejal Globe (est. 2007) record labels, that are both focused on releasing modern dance music. He also runs a weekly Lejal’Nyte radioshow on legendary bass music station Sub FM.

“Linnas” is his first solo album as Gee***. It consists of 11 tracks that are all brewed (“linnas” means “malt” in Estonian) in last few years that Gee has mostly spent in urban environments (“linnas” also means “in town” in Estonian). “Linnas” is a reflection to all kinds of attitudes, emotions and experiences felt in these environments and it has been put together in Gee’s country house, far away from urban areas.

*** There have been two releases earlier: “Mobile Riddim Album” (Lejal Genes 2005 ILLCD018) together with Mista + “RemiXid” (Lejal Genes 2008 ILLCD039) compilation of remixes made by Gee.

Lejal’Nyte presents: Gee and Superskankers at Tallinn Music Week session

This week we focused on Tallinn Music Week once again. On thursday 4.04.2013 there was a TMW Bass Music Showcase in Tallinn’s biggest Club Hollywood, that brought together many excellent artists from Estonia: Gee, Jeffy Diamond, Slin, KGB, Centron, Superskankers, Margaret, WECAN, Bisweed and additionally 3421 from Israel. There were also some very special delegates of the festival watching and listening to all performances: Whistla from Sub FM etc, Mizz Beats from Deep Medi etc, Jack Haigh from Acute Promotions etc and many others.

Luckily we can share two sets from the night with you again.
