Out-Or on legendaarne Eesti muusikalooja ja eksperimenteerija, kelle muusika põhineb süntesaatoritel ja sämpleritel. Küsisime härralt mõned küsimused enne reedest Lejal’Nyte kontsertõhtut.

Seekordsel Lejal’Nyte kontsertõhtul saab sind näha tegemas live oma mõnusa masinapargiga. Mis sul täpsemalt setupis kasutusel on?

Nii see on, et masinapark on laval, täpsemalt üks trummimasin ja kaks süntesaatorit. 2/3 sellest on ise ehitatud ja kokku pandud ehk XOXBOX kuulsast Roland TB 303 bassisüntesaatorist, Roland TR 808 kloon YOCTO ja siis lisaks klassikaline Roland SH-101.

Käesoleva setupi suure võluna on suhteliselt keeruline teha kahte samasugust kontserti ehk kõik esinemised kipuvad olema erinevad. Kui palju sa ette üldse lugusid nö valmis mõtled võid teed? Või lähtud pigem kohapeal tekkivast tundest ja vibratsioonist?

Analoog-tehnikaga live’st on suurem osa improvisatsioon. Mul pole ühtegi sarnast live etteastet olnud, alati on midagi teisiti. Kõik sõltub antud ajahetkest ja tundest mis live hetkel valitseb. Eelnevalt on küll valmis tehtud nii trummimasinas kui bassisündis mõned patternid, mida on siis võimalik esinemise ajal omavahel ühendada ja kokku komponeerida.

Seda on hea teada, et paned masinad oma tunderütmis tegutsema. Sellega seoses – üheks sinu suureks tunde- ja inspiratsiooniallikaks läbi aegade tundub olevat legendaarne Aphex Twin ja tema hõimlased. Kuidas aga taaslaed ja käivitad oma loomingulisust tänapäeval?

Kõige enam inspiratsiooni annab ikkagi tehnika ja sellega kokkupuude, kokkumäng ja katsetamine. Loomulikult annab loomingulist lisainertsi ka ümbritsev keskkond – kõik millest on midagi positiivset või huvitavat enesele võtta.

Kokkumäng tehnikaga kõlab väga hästi! Ümbritsevast keskkonnast rääkides – on sul soovitada mõningaid huvitavaid artiste maailmast, kellel mh ise silma peal hoiad? Või põnevaid rahvusvahelisi sündmusi / liikumisi?

Kusagil 10-15 aastat tagasi oli üheks enim mõjutavaks plaadifirma Rephlex, mille erinevad muusikalised suunad tundusid põnevad ja inspireerivad. Samuti olen jälginud alati Planet Mu ja Ninja Tune leibeleid ning nende uusi ja vanu artiste. Võimalusi täna uuemat muusikat jälgida on palju: SoundCloud, YouTube, netiraadiod jm. See kõik loob huvitava keskkonna, kust on alati leida enesele midagi sobivat, mis kõlab meeldivalt ja annab teatud inspiratsiooni.
